Mark P. Jensen PhD
Mark P. Jensen is a University of Washington professor and vice chair for research of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. Dr. Jensen has been developing and studying the efficacy of psychosocial pain treatments for almost three decades. In his clinical work, he combines cognitive-behavioral, hypnotic, and motivational approaches to help his clients better manage chronic pain and its effects on their lives. For more than 30 years, he has facilitated workshops both nationally and internationally on treatment approaches for pain management. His research program, funded by the National Institutes of Health and other funding sources, focuses on the development and evaluation of measures of pain, pain beliefs and pain coping strategies, as well as on the development and evaluation of psychosocial pain interventions. He is the author or co-author of more than 400 articles and book chapters, has served as a consulting editor of the Annals of Behavioral Medicine and as an associate editor for the Clinical Journal of Pain and the Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is currently the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Pain.
